A Cookie Jar of our Accomplishments

We can write our achievements on a CV and tell family and friends, but how many of us actually sit with the feeling of our achievement, I mean really sit back and tell ourselves just how well we’ve done and how far we’ve come?

There’s a Caribbean saying… “Self praise is no praise” well how misunderstood and self-defeating is that? If you can’t see how well you’ve done and can’t appreciate yourself, why should anyone else? Why should your children appreciate their achievements and push to gain more?? Honour your experiences and be thankful!

Things you will need:

*A Jar with a lid, a jar you really like, you can even decorate it!

* At least 5 4 sheets of A4 Paper. Colourful ones would be great but white sheets are also okay.

* Colouring pencils or crayons * Scissors

Lets get started!:

On the A4 sheet write a short sentence, paragraph or simple word that states or reminds you of something that you have accomplished, achieved or done that you are proud of. It can be something like finishing school, getting your job, obtaining a degree or certificate, overcoming an event or situation.  just make it something that YOU feel proud of and good about.

Continue to do this until you can’t think of anything else to write. The list will continue to grow over time so don’t worry if you can’t find a lot straight away. We make daily accomplishments everyday just by living.. mine today is getting up earlier than usual and making it on time to see my beautiful Goddaughter’s face as she waved me off to go into school 😉 it reminded me of how loved and appreciated I am, and how far I’ve come from being that little girl at the school gate. You see, it can be the littlest of things!.

Then, once you’ve done, cut the sentences/paragraphs out into individual strips and roll the pieces of paper  around a pencil, so that it rolls up. Some people may prefer to simply fold the paper up, and that’s also okay.

Now… place the pieces of paper, your ‘cookies’  into your ‘cookie jar’ 😉

Then, whenever you forget how great you are, how far you’ve come, what you have already achieved and just how unique and amazing you are… Open your cookie jar and pull out a ‘cookie’, sit back and remember how great it felt to accomplish that cookie!

Try to remember how you felt, what it looked like, the sounds, smells and the feelings in your tummy! Well that depends on what it is of course! Lol. Just remember, you are amazing and you have done so much already!

Have fun!

Have a blessed and productive day, full of open doors,

Creating a Cookie Jar of Dates

Yes, it’s easy to say ‘date yourself’ ‘treat yourself’ but where/how do you begin???

Well are there somethings that you’ve always wanted to do? Something’s that you know you need to do or want to do from time-to-time? This is the starting point!

Now this is where the arts and crafts begins 😉 Why not start by creating yourself a ‘Cookie Jar’ of Dates – Noooo not with actual cookies!!

Things you will need:

*A Jar with a lid, a jar you really like, you can even decorate it!

* At least 5 4 sheets of A4 Paper. Colourful ones would be great but white sheets are also okay.

* Colouring pencils or crayons

* Scissors Lets get started!:

On the A4 sheet write a short sentence, paragraph or simple word that states or reminds you of something that you want to do or would love to do! Don’t worry about the cost at this point.. Continue to do this until you can’t think of anything else to write. The list will continue to grow over time so don’t worry if you can’t find a lot straight away.

Then, once you’ve done, cut the sentences/paragraphs/pictures out into individual strips and  then think about the time you’ll need to do each thing, e.g., a face mask and some quiet time might be *two hours*, visiting a special place might be *half a day*  etc.  Then think about the cost, is it something that is *free*, something that will cost say £5.00 or £50.00?

Now, at the back of the date cookie use a colour and/or write the time the date will take and the cost… e.g (blue dot = 1 hour date & I’ve written £3.00, as this will be the cost of the oats, honey and bananas for my face mask). Dates with yourself don’t have to be expensive, it’s simply about enjoying, loving and appreciating yourself! Just make it something that YOU want to do.

Great! now that that’s done! Simply fold the paper up, ensuring that the colour (date code) and cost is visible, and place your dates, or cookies, into your ‘cookie jar’ 😉

Then, whenever you find that you have a spare hour, day, weekend or even ten minutes! (yes, 10 minutes can be spent thinking about an achievement and remembering how you achieved it, how great you’ve done and how far you’ve come, or even spent doing a short bit of relaxation!)  Try to remember how you felt, what it looked like, the sounds, smells and the feelings in your tummy! Well that depends on what it is of course! Lol.  Just remember, you are amazing and you have done so much already!

The most important thing about the cookie jar of dates is that you do exactly what YOU want to do in honour of yourself; for YOU.

I hope you find this gift of the cookie jar as helpful and fun as it was for me discovering it from the great Christiane Sanderson. Thank you Christiane for your gift of ‘The Cookie Jar’ and I hope you don’t mind my adjustments 😉

Have a blessed and productive day,

Self Care and Self Love; The Joys of Dating yourself

What would your ideal date be?

How would you be treated?

What would your date do?

How would they feel about you and what would they tell you?

Mmmmm that sounds lovely doesn’t it! So tell me, have you considered ‘Dating’ yourself? Even if for just one day per week? I tried it out… It was heavenly!

___________________________________________

I woke up early on Saturday morning and felt a sense of needing to re-energize and re-introduce myself to the me that was beginning to get lost within paperwork, deadlines, others needs and work commitments.  I walked over to the mirror and began studying my face, my hands, my eyes, my feet, my mouth, my whole body… and I thought about just how unique and precious I am… well this is what dates had continuously told me in the past! But why was I not cutting out the middleman and telling myself this?

So I began preparing myself for a date! Now this was going to be the heavy weight of all dates… the date was going to be for the whole day and I was going to wrap myself up and bathe my date in love and attention! So I went about doing my hair, getting a manicure and pedicure, and finding something figure hugging to please my date. I brought fresh foods and fruit to prepare my lovely and deserving date a healthy breakfast – lunch and dinner… and breakfast again! *wink*. I even went swimming first thing in the morning to relax my body and mind, just for my date!

I made sure the house smelled of my date’s favorite essential oils and the melodies of our favorite songs filled the room, just to set the mood.  I then allowed my date to use the expensive oils and creams that I sometimes ‘save’ for a special occasion or display in the bathroom for guests to ‘see’.  Note I said ‘see’ and not ‘use’ (smile) and I lovingly rubbed and smoothed the oils into my oh so beautiful dates skin, hair, and even nails! Loving them from their hair follicle down to the soles of their feet!

Beautiful! I sat there thinking… “wow, I really do love you!” … and then I smiled and turned to see myself in the mirror… and kissed it!…  I’m looking forward to our next date!.. Yes, this was a date with the most important person in my world! It was a date with myself!

I’m going to have at least one day per week were I spend the day dating myself, and I highly recommend it for YOU too 😉 How can we ask a date to treat us when we don’t even dedicate and treat ourselves? I don’t mean every now and then… I mean a specific dedicated day, hour or even week where we are our main focus. A day or hour where we DO NOT accept calls or messages, DO NOT reply to facebook posts or unexpected visitors, only do what benefits our own wellbeing, and concentrates solely on our needs!.

So start dating yourself and begin by setting the mood by sending your self a little text message… Here’s mine:

“Im up early preparing for my date! It’s a whole day! So I’m doing my hair, getting a manicure & pedicure & finding something figure hugging to please you and only you 😉 I’m going to prepare you a healthy breakfast – lunch & dinner… & breakfast again! *wink*. I’m even goin swimmin now to relax my body & mind for you! I’m going to make sure the house is smelling of your fav essential oils, then I’m pulling out your favorite 80’s & 90’s beats 2set the mood… I Love You 😉

Have fun!
